Relations between Turkey and Madagascar

Turkish Embassy in Antananarivo was opened on 21 April 2010. Madagascar declared its intention to open an embassy in Ankara with an official Note dated 3 November 2010. Currently, Madagascar’s Embassy in Rome is also accredited to Turkey.

Madagascar has an Honorary Consulate in Istanbul.

Our bilateral trade volume with Madagascar in 2015 reached nearly 60 million USD. About 54 million dollars of this amount consists of our exports. Our main export products are, grain, iron and steel, electronic equipment, transport equipment, and various finished goods, while the main import products are vegetables, spices, leather, non-metallic minerals.

Around 50 Turkish citizens live in Madagascar.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) as well as the Ministry of Health provides some technical and humanitarian assistance to Madagascar.

Turkey, within the framework of Türkiye Scholarships, provides scholarships for university education to the students from Madagascar.
